My Baby Boy Layout by Soraya

Hello lovelies,

Soraya has a beautiful layout to share with you today. She used the May embellishment kit for this one.

She broke apart the wood chip from the May kit and used it on different areas of her layout. The effect is absolutely stunning!

She built up some beautiful layering with the hearts & various embellishments from the kit. I love the way she has the title coming out of one of the heart shapes.

I hope you enjoyed looking at Soraya’s lovely work today.

Have a lovely day!

James is Here Layout by Megan

Hello everyone! It’s Megan, and today I’m sharing a take on the May sketch.

I usually like to use sketches as a challenge to myself, trying out different page sizes or translating them as a pocket page design, but I decided to follow the sketch closely this month as a way to get myself out of a creative slump. It was so nice to complete a page without having to put too much thought into it, and having the elements from the May kit picked out already made it especially easy.

My only major change was making the photos bigger. Making one of the photos black and white helped put focus onto the color one, which is a good trick to use if you have two similar photos that are the same size!

Because I used a patterned paper as a background, I stapled the acetate speech bubbles to white cardstock and cut them out so they’d show up well!

I also used tiny enamel dots from the May Planner Kit in place of stars, because I always need more purple supplies!

Because my bigger photos spread across the full page, the clip on the side of the photo block on the sketch wouldn’t work. I moved the circle shape on the sketch up a bit and switched out a clip for resin flair (more purple!).

I also included a purple cardstock sticker as a place to add the date (and as a way to create a purple visual triangle).

To make the thin alpha work on the patterned background, I traced each letter with marker to make sure the title popped.

I added journaling on vellum with a typewriter, adhering it with a staple and another enamel dot.

I loved this sketch! Finishing it helped me get back on a good creativity kick!

Are you doing a project with this month’s sketch too? I’d love to see it!

Megan

Splish Splash Fun Layout by Nicole

Hello lovelies!

Nicole here and I’m excited to share with you my very first post with Freckled Fawn! Today I’m playing along with the May sketch challenge and I invite you all to play along too!

I chose to follow the sketch very closely this month. My photo was larger than the one shown in the sketch, so I made a smaller coordinating embellishment cluster with the washi tape, chip board stickers and clips form these fabulous May kits to use on the left of my photo.

All I did was wrap the washi around a piece of scrap white card stock, chose the green chipboard journaling or checklist piece and added some tangled thread and a clip behind it! This kit is so beautifully designed that it just all came together so quickly and easily!

I did do just a tiny bit of water coloring behind the “splish-splash-fun” title and at the top between the three speech bubbles. I adhered the speech bubbles, stars and added in my date stamp.

I decided to put my journaling on the chipboard sticker as opposed to the bottom like the sketch shows, however I did add the date beside the title to fill it in a bit. Here are some more close ups of my final layout.

Be sure to add your projects to our blog using the May sketch for a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to Freckled Fawn! You have until June 1st 11pm MST to upload your creations! Don’t be shy! We want to see what you are creating!

Thank you so much for joining me today! Have a great week!

XO,
Nicole

Birthdays Are Tough Layout by Sami

Hello lovelies,

Sami here, bringing you another birthday themed May kit layout.

I recently shared another birthday themed layout, which you can find here. I’m working on getting photos scrapbooked from February. I find that I like to focus on a month at a time & when I am done with that month, I move onto another month. How do you decide on which photos to scrap?

I really love how the May kits work perfectly for these birthday layouts that I’ve been cranking out. My little girl had a My Little Pony themed cake & the rainbows and hearts from the May kit totally work with that.

I used the purple enamel dots from the May Planner kit & the word bubble from the May Embellishment kit, but the rest of the supplies are actually included in both kits.

My favorite item in the May kits is the alphas. I love them so much! I want them in all the colors of the rainbow. So pretty!

I hope you have a lovely day!

XO,
Sami
