This layout was inspired by the fantastic yellow washi tape that came in this month’s kit. It has some lovely words and phrases on it and I just loved ‘cuteness’ so have turned it into the main focus for my layout.
I created the title using my Silhouette Cameo and then backed each letter with different patterned papers. I added some ink to the white background of the layout to give it some colour and then layered my oversized title on top.
Once I had added my photos I could then add all the lovely bits & pieces that came in the July Embellishment kit. I added the ‘hi’ wooden paperclip to one of my photos, added a few chipboard stickers and some label stickers. I also had to use some of the yellow washi tape, so chose a couple of phrases that went with my layout.
I finished off my layout with blue glittery hearts and handwrote my journaling.
I have put together a process video for you to watch on my channel.
So to start I chose 3 blue, 3 yellow an 3 pink patterned papers from different collections. I cut out a heart shape out of paper and traced nine hearts on the papers, cut them out and then cut them in half! Then I paced them together randomly. I stitched the hearts with white thread to finish the background.
I chose a picture of my friend and me at my birthday party. I think the picture goes very well with the colors on the layout! I rounded the edges because somehow the picture has a vintage vibe and I thought that round edges would match perfectly.

It’s no secret that I absolutely love reading, so what shape is better for me to repeat on one of my monthly reads pages than hearts? I went through my backlog of monthly reads photos for the photos that matched the colors the best and whipped up a page.
I used just white cardstock, the kit, and a Collecting Memories journaling card (as a background for the title) on this page. That patterned paper is actually the kit pouch cut up! I trimmed off the zipper and the sides and had a nice long piece to work with.
In addition to the repeating hearts on the pouch-turned background, I added a line of resin hearts to the left side of the page, then created a visual triangle with the line of hearts, a pink chipboard sticker heart by the title, and a wood-topped paperclip on top of a photo. I rubbed some ink on the wood to get that bright yellow color!
I had a lot of fun playing around by repeating hearts, now I want to try a few other repeating shapes ideas!
I’d love to see how you repeat a shape on a project!
I was completely inspired by one of the chipboard stickers – the one with the sunshine that says ‘shine on’ in the middle. I re-created this but super-sized, using my Silhouette Cameo. I cut the sun in three different sections and layered them altogether. This formed the background for my layout and I then built the photo and embellishments up over on the right side.
I used the Shine On chipboard sticker that inspired the layout as well as the sun wooden paperclip. I also added a few more shapes from the chipboard sticker sheet and also used a few of the rubber phrases and label stickers.
I finished off by adding in that gorgeous yellow washi tape, a few flicks of water colour paint and two white glittery heart stickers. I also added in a sub title using the vellum alphabet stickers and handwrote in my journaling on the left side of the sun.
This layout is about me, my sister and my brother! I absolutely wanted to use those super cute acetate numbers… it took me quite some time to figure out how I could use more than just one or two… but finally, I had an idea! I calculated approximately how many hours the three of us “knew” each other… or in other words, how many hours my brother was already in this world with us 😉
He’s 21 years and 3 months old… But I cheated a bit… I wanted to use that 7, because it’s so cute, with the hearts :), so I changed the last two numbers a bit… who cares when it looks good right?! 🙂
So to start this page, I put a bit of gesso in the middle, with a palette knife, then did a bit of mixed media with some sprays!
I used the Freckled Fawn washi strips to put over and under the picture and topped them with the numbers.
I matted the photo on a few pieces of patterned paper and stuck it between the numbers!
Here, I was finally able to use that gorgeous flower wood veneer we had in the may kit! I cut it in half and embossed it in gold, then put the two pieces on both sides of the photo.
Almost done! But the best part… I used my new We R Memory Keepers Stitch Happy machine for the first time!!! Yay! I stitched over the numbers and around the page with gold thread… love it! 😉
To finish the layout, I used some Freckled Fawn embellishments! The cute enamel hearts, the chipboard words, the acrylic speech bubble and the puffy alphas!
This month, it contains these super cute large acetate numbers with the cutest colors and patterns! When I received my kit, they caught my eye right off the bat and the perfect project came to mind…I wanted to celebrate my two crazy kiddos on their last day of school. Here’s a close up of the final layout…
I started by arranging the acetate numbers towards the bottom of my layout. I knew they would be a larger focal point. After I had those down, I had an idea of where I wanted the photo to go and began layering pieces of the washi tape strips that came in the kit. They coordinate perfect with the various colors and patterns…and I finally got to use my favorite strip! It’s the one that helped inspire this layout with the circles and alphabet letters on it. Once the washi strips were down, I applied a light layer of gesso so I could add some shimmer mists for splashes of color.
Once those layers were all dry, I added in the chip board phrases, enamel hearts and some puffy stickers and faces from past Freckled Fawn kits. I also finished my title by using last months awesome yellow alpha’s and added “Last day of school.” Finally, I adhered my photo on foam adhesive for dimension and added in that really cute square clip. Here are some more close ups of the finished project:
Thanks so much for joining me today!

PICTURE PERFECT LAYOUT
This layout was completely inspired by the sticky half-pearls. I loved how they appeared on the backing sheet, in blocks of turquoise-green, white and silver so set about making my layout reflect this.
I cut a dotty cut file from a sheet of white card. I then took a second piece of white card and painted it in blocks using metallic paint. I used turquoise-green, white and silver paints to match the pearls. Once dry I stuck the dotty cut file over the top of the painted background so the blocks of colour shone through the holes. I used foam pads to raise the top layer so there was some depth to my layout. I then added all the sticky pearls from the sheet through the holes onto their corresponding colour. There wasn’t enough pearls to add one to every hole but the effect looks great.
Once my background was ready I could then add my photo and my embellishments. I picked out all green, blue and white tones from the embellishment kit and began adding them to my page. I kept the photo and most of the embellishments in a block to mimic the rest of the layout. I love that big blue bow and the acrylic title went brilliantly with my photo. I used the washi strips, arrows and circles, as well as the enamel hearts and chipboard words.
I finished off my layout by adding a few tone on tone embellishments to the rest of the layout with some stitching detail and added a journaling border around the edge of the layout. I loved how this one turned out as it’s a bit different from my usual style and the block colours look great!
SO MUCH FUN LAYOUT
For this layout I cut a circle cut file out of pink patterned paper. I stuck this onto a white cardstock background and then mounted that on a busy colourful chevron print. The circle cut file has been raised on foam pads to give the layout dimension and also to provide places to tuck things under.
The circle cut file had some clouds on it and I built on that by fussy-cutting some more clouds out of another patterned paper. I layered these on the three areas together with a large ampersand sign from the acetate numbers set, and also added my photo.
With the base of my layout complete I could then start embellishing. I loved the three colours of the enamel hearts in this month’s embellishment kit so choose to highlight those on this layout.
I added a few chipboard circles from last month’s embellishment kit that were the right colours and then began adding the enamel hearts. I also added some washi arrows and a circle. I finished off by doodling some hearts and cutting some tiny hearts out of one of the washi strips and finally I added a few splatters of yellow water colour paint.
Thanks so much for taking a look at my layouts, happy scrapping!
