Bible Journaling with Kim

Hello lovelies,

Kim here!

Today I played along with Freckled Fawn’s new sketch challenge for April. I love challenges: they take a whole lot of guess work into designing a layout AND it gives you an opportunity to use your fabulous kits!

For this month, I used my April Planner kit in my Journaling Bible.  To play along please check out the FF Blog post for all the details about entering!

Using those fabulous transparent frames, I highlighted the verse I wanted focus on, Isiah 52:1.

I then printed out my daffodil out on transparency paper. It makes the whole layout a little less heavy with a see through picture of this type, in my humble opinion.

I then used those fabulous purple velum letters from the April Kit along with the foiled cork stars!  I added a few more sentiments from the chipboard pieces and colored the black and white camera for added pizzazz on the page as well as fulfilling on the sketch layout description.

I hope you guys participate in this challenge.  Freebies are always a plus but…. having fun while creating are the sprinkles on the cupcake icing!

Sketch+ Challenge #2

Hi lovelies!!

Doe here with a super fun challenge and sketch. Before we get to this week’s Sketch+ Challenge. It’s time to announce our winner from last week!

Big congrats to Kelly Sroka! Please email me at so I can get your prize sent out.

Alright. Now’s the time to pull out that huge stash of washi tape; you know that plastic bin you have hidden in your bedroom closet. I know you all have some ;). This is a safe space, no judgement. It’s okay to be addicted to washi. I LOVE washi!! All the pattern options and the ease of using it. It’s perfection.

The challenge today is to use your washi to make a large shape that will work as your crafty background. You can do this on a layout, on a card, etc.

On my layout I used washi tape, felt doilies, puffy border stickers, pearl stickers, and a white foam “laugh” sticker.

Step One : Pull out some coordinating washi rolls. You can coordinate by color or pattern. Then, on your layout, lightly trace a large shape (heart, star, square, etc).

Step Two : Use your washi rolls to fill in the shape you’ve traced. You can use scissors to cut the edges or even a credit card (see tutorial HERE). Or, to make it even easier, you can cut out the shape after you’ve finished and then just glue the shape onto a new layout.

Step Three : Add photos, embellishments, and journaling! I haven’t done my journaling yet because it’s TOP SECRET! And I didn’t want to photograph it hehe.

I loved seeing everyone’s creations who participated last week. And I can’t wait to see what you guys do with your washi tape this week! Project entries are due by Wednesday Feb 15th at 9PM MST. Check back Thursday for another fun challenge & to see who won!

SURPRISE DISCOUNT! Since this challenge is all about washi tape, how about a discount! Use code “WashiROCKS” during checkout and get 15% off all washi tape on our site. Code expires Monday February 13 at midnight MST.

One lucky participant will be chosen at random to receive a $25 gift card to the store!

If you’ve ever wondered what to do with embellishment multiples and have trouble using them all, this is a great option to add a wonderful, functional design to your page!

I have a project example to share with you today using the February 2017 Freckled Fawn kit:

I used embellishments as bullets for a list of books I read! I like to track the books I read each month with a monthly reads page. For this page, I just printed off an 8.5×11 photo and embellished to complete the page!

I combined old and new Freckled Fawn products, using older alphas and a new chipboard flower sticker from the February kit for my title and a list using new resin hearts and older Freckled Fawn labels from my stash.

I also used embellishments as journaling bullets for two 6×12 insert pages about my kids’ dance classes for a pocket scrapbooking spread.

I’d love to see what creative ways you come up with for this week’s Sketch+ Challenge!

Project entries are due by Wednesday Feb 8th at 9PM MST. Check back Thursday for another fun challenge & to see who won!
