Two and a Half Layout by Sami

Hello lovelies! Sami here, sharing more details about my layout for the September sketch challenge. There’s still time to play along so I hope to see your project entries linked up soon! Play along for a chance to win a $20 FF gift card.

I actually designed the sketch because I had this big 5×7 photo that I wanted to scrap. We recently celebrated my daughter Olivia’s half birthday with cupcakes. She was so excited.

I used many embellishments from the August Freckled Fawn kit including the rose gold foil washi, the acetate doilies, metallic feather charm, and epoxy stickers.

The little hello chipboard piece is from a past FF kit.

I paired the new kit items with other items from my stash. I love how easily my Freckled Fawn goodies seem to work with everything. The kits are so versatile!

The picture worthy moment piece was actually cut out from a Freckled Fawn journaling card from the All About Love collection that just came out last month.

I created the cupcake topper using a foam numbers with some glitter alphas and some plain white cardstock. I decided to save the cupcake topper and use it on my layout. I just have it poking out from on top of the larger photo.

And that was it for this layout. I hope that you play along with the sketch for a chance to win some FF!

Have a lovely day!

XO,
Sami

Together 2 Page Layout by Nicole

Hello Lovelies!
Nicole here and today I have a double page spread for you using the August 2017 Freckled Fawn Embellishment Kit!  One of my favorite elements in this kit is the wood grain washi tape…I may have mentioned this about 100 times already this month…lol…but it really was a large inspiration for this two page spread.  The background I used on the full page layout is a cut file from Just Nick Studio. When I found it…I just HAD to use it! It’s a perfect fit!!! It matches the washi perfectly, so that was my starting point. Here’s an overall look at the final spread:

I took some time to cut the wood grain background from my Silhouette Portrait and glued it directly onto my background paper. My next step was taking white acrylic paint and applying it behind my photo so I could then add in matching pink and light blue paints. Once that was dry, I then layered in my Freckled Fawn wood grain washi, acetate doilies, floral stickers, the yellow doily flair, clear quote stickers and other items from my stash. Here are close ups of the full page layout:

After that was finished, I began working on my coordinating 9×12 Project Life layout. All of the journaling cards are from the “All About Love” collection and they are beautiful pastel colors in pink, blue and grey! I just love these three colors together! I took the time to lay my photos out on my computer so I knew how much of a white border to leave on the two smaller photos.  I used the wood grain washi again, enamel shape and floral stickers and this time I used more of the floral wood pieces from the kit. I also used vellum letters from a past kit, clear phrase stickers, stamped a few icons with stamps from my stash and added in my journaling. Here are close ups of my final layout:

Thanks so much for joining me today!
We have some exciting new papers coming to the shop! Be sure to keep your eyes open!!
Have a fantastic week!

Super Star Layout by Soraya

Hello lovelies! Soraya here bringing you a layout I created using the June & August Embellishment kits.

One of the things I love about the Freckled Fawn kits is that they coordinate really well from month to month so combining kits on a project is a breeze.

I created a big title to be the focal point of my layout along with one star shaped photo. The stars in the background are watercolored on along with the green splashes of color. I embellished around my title & inside the stars.

The wanderlust stickers paired perfectly with the vellum arrows from the June kit.

I added some acetate doilies along with some more vellum stickers, a puffy star sticker, June resin shapes, and August woodchips. The embellishments are just a lovely mish mash of kits.

Last but not least, I added an acrylic title from the June kit along with some of the enamel hearts from the same kit.

I hope that you enjoyed my project & it inspires you to create a big title on your next project.

XO,
Soraya

Love This Place Layout by Nicole

Hi Lovelies!
Nicole here and today I have an 8 1/2″ x 11″ layout to share with you all! I have been oohing and awing over this August Embellishment kit! So many beautiful elements for fall layouts! Here’s a quick look at my final layout:
One thing I love about this time of year is going for walks in the cool air. It’s become one of my kids favorite too! Over Labor Day weekend, we decided to pack up and go to a state park near by and pick a random trail and just walk. There’s something about peace and quite and just soaking it all in to soothe the soul.
When I chose the pictures I wanted to use for this layout, I knew I wanted some type of wood grain behind them to give them a framed look. I used my Silhouette to cut a square cut file I had with a wood grain paper. After I knew roughly where I wanted my pictures to go, I pulled out my mists and used the packaging technique to create the teal/green and gold splatters.
Once everything was dry, I glued my frames in place, added my layered photos, then added the pieces of the rose gold wood grain washi around them. This washi is a beautiful metallic color with hearts! It was perfect for this! I used the epoxy floral stickers and clear quote stickers from the August kit to add the perfect touch! The quotes from the stickers described our experience perfectly!
When the focal point of the layout was complete, it felt like it was still missing something on the top left, so I used one of the large acetate doilies from the kit along with the metal doily, leaf and feather. It was the perfect finishing touch!
Here are close ups of my final layout:
…and here’s one final look at the final layout…
Thank you so much for stopping by today!
Have a beautiful week ahead and be sure to head on over to the Freckled Fawn Shop to grab all of your favorite embellishments from this kit!
PS…FF is now offering new paper & journaling card subscriptions! Be sure to check them out!
XO,
Nicole

Road Trip Layout by Odessa

Hello lovelies, Odessa here!

When I first opened the August Embellishment Kit I knew it would be perfect for documenting our summer adventures! The quotes on the Wanderlust clear stickers and journal cards were just perfect. So when I sat down to put together this page I knew that it was the perfect page to use my new Frecked Fawn kit on!

Overall the page is very blue and green. Breezy blue water tones and lush green trees. We just went camping at one of my new favourite parks in our province and I was excited to get it in my weekly album! I usually just do one spread per week, but I gave this week an extra spread because there were too many good pictures. As I usually do, I started by picking the pictures I wanted to use and then some journal cards to go with it. I love the All About Love journal cards. The coordinate perfectly with the kit! I chose one of the quote cards, a card with some journaling space and one of the doily print cards to mount an Instax photo on.

This kit is so versatile. You could go feminine and delicate with it or all wild and free. I chose the latter. I even managed to incorporate one of the Vintage Doily Acetate Diecuts – I taped a green one down over the quote. I used the woodgrain washi a lot on this layout to tape pictures, embellishing and journaling down. I really wanted to use one of the clear quote stickers over a photograph but the picture was too dark. I remedied this by sticking the quote to some vellum and then cutting it out and taping it down to the photo so it would be legible. I also used one of the fabulous To Do clips on a photo to highlight some journaling.

I used another quote sticker on my final picture because it was just perfect sitting on the horizon line. I added one of the metal embellishments from the kit underneath it and journaled about the photo on one of the journal cards. In addition to the kit items I used some White Puffy Script Alphas and a chipboard piece from the June Summertime Chipboard Phrases that helped finish off the layout. Sticking to a soft blue/green colour palette really helped maintain what a beautiful and peaceful trip we had!

Have a lovely day!

XO,
Odessa

Week 13 Project Life by Jennie

Hey Everyone! It’s Jennie and as usual I have a Project Life spread to share!

I mixed a lot of Freckled Fawn journaling cards in this spread!

I’ve been trying to use a lot of products from my stash. I love re-discovering products because in a way they feel almost new. One of the items I’ve been trying to stash are the orange alphas from a Oh Deer Me Kit from 3 years ago! I managed to use them a bunch of times and I still have a bunch of letters!

I kept my title card super simple. I used a plain white circle to make the Large Acetate Numbers pop! I also added the Yellow & White Puffy Script Alphas on top of the number. I didn’t have a “k” so I had to cut an “x”. I love these cute little Tiny Minty Green Rhinestone Stars from the May Oh Deer Me Kit.

These Vellum Phrase Stickers from the February Oh Deer Me Kit are perfect for photos!

I used a card from the Every Moment  Counts set to mat a 3×3 photo. These cute enamel hearts and stars come in the Epoxy Foil Floral Stickers.

I love acetate pieces because you can always peek at what’s behind and the are easy pieces to layer. I used the Acetate Speech Bubbles Die Cuts over this journaling card.

Ancient products unite! Oldies but goodies and I love them!

I got the idea of stapling the white Puffy Heart from Jen Schow. I like how it adds even more texture.

I made a shaker pocket for my movie ticket using a Simple Stories Flip Pocket and the Fuse Tool.

This week we had a little trip to National Postal Museum and I used a 6×12 insert to add more photos!

I like to add an element at the center of collages so the photos don’t look so divided. In these collages I used the Lovely Day Chipboard Stickers.

This card had a busy pattern and two photos that cover almost the whole paper so I kept it super simple with labels and Chipboard Phrases Stickers.

I hope you enjoyed this post! Have a lovely day!

XO,
Jennie

Swim Layout by Niki

Hi, lovelies! Niki back again with another layout using the August Embellishment kit and the All About Love Journal Cards. This is the fourth layout I have made with this kit and I didn’t have much leftover!  I arranged the remaining acetate doilies onto my layout into a circle shape. The colours I had left were the pink and orange tones and white ones, so this immediately gave the layout a summery feel.

I added a large die-cut doily on top of my acetate doilies and stuck everything in place. My plan was to then add some machine stitching to some areas of the large die-cut doily but as I had overlapped my acetate doilies, together with two cardstock layers and the die cut, the layout was a bit thick and I broke two needles on my sewing machine! So my sewing machine is now out of action until replacement needles arrive and therefore there isn’t quite as much machine stitching as I had originally intended!

I added my photo on a stack together with some of the journaling cards. One of the cards I had cut the design from the middle but kept the edge so I covered this one in the Rose Gold Foiled Woodgrain Washi Tape and used it as one of the layers within my photo stack. Once my photo was in place, I added the pretty yellow doily flair badge, a Rose Gold To Do paper clip and some of the clear wanderlust quote stickers. I finished off by adding the remaining epoxy shapes and a fussy cut arrow and ‘love’ from one of the journaling cards.

Finally I handwrote in the word ‘swim’ in every loop of the doily and added some splatters of gold Color Shine spray.

I have made a process video of this layout which you can watch below:

Watch on YouTube

I have definitely used the August Kit and Journal Cards to their full potential as I have nothing left other than one paperclip and the washi tape! I hope you’ve enjoyed my layouts and videos this month and I can’t wait for the next kit to arrive on my door mat!

Happy scrapping!

XO,
Niki

Giant Nebula Knit Blanket Layout by Megan

Hello lovelies, Megan here!

I had a great time playing along with the August Freckled Fawn Sketch using the August Freckled Fawn Kit! Even when the challenges are over, they are a great source of inspiration. The September sketch has begun. Click here to play along with the Sept sketch!

The colors in the kit and the epoxy star stickers reminded me of a blanket I made for Jonas last year, so I decided to make a page about that!

You can use the August Sketch with any products, but I love that it is made with the August kit in mind, so choosing embellishments was a no brainer!

Here’s how I used the sketch:

I stuck pretty close to the original design with a few changes.

Instead of adding patterned paper horizontally, I used three August All About Love Journal Cards by Lili Niclass. I made a bigger title using White Puffy Alpha Stickers and used the second card for journaling.

I added strips of Rose Gold Woodgrain Washi to the top and bottom of the cards to pull them together. I loved that the tape played off of the metallic thread bits in the blanket and was a nod to Groot, as the blanket color scheme was based on a Guardians of the Galaxy poster!

I added August Epoxy Star Stickers to the center of each Vintage Doily Acetate Diecut and skipped the large heart embellishment on the sketch.

Instead of including three 4×6 photos, I included two 4×6 and two 3×4 photos. I used foam adhesive on the back of one of the 3×4 photos to make it stand out!

Lastly, I used a Doily Flair instead of a large heart in the upper left corner.

I absolutely love how this page came out and had such a great time making it quick thanks to this sketch. Be sure to stop by and play along with the September sketch!

XO,
Megan

August Scrapbook Process with Jen

Hello friends! Jen here!

I’m excited to share a scrapbook layout using the glorious August kit. This one was definitely inspired by the pretty floral and woodgrain elements in the kit.

I wanted to tell a story about a few of the cozy shops my bestie and I visited on a weekend vacation and talk about the comfort of that activity, so I really tried to create a really warm and inviting page. I picked out the woodgrain washi and wood veneer pieces and decided to fussy cut a floral patterned paper to accent them.

The acetate doilies were another great way to bring in the feel of a thrift shop or used book store and I liked the circular element they added. I decided to add in some more circular elements by putting some of the clear stickers on white cardstock and punching them out.

The adventure phrases worked perfectly with my story and that made me super happy. 🙂 I combined some chipboard letters with my favorite Freckled Fawn puffy alphabet stickers for my title and added journaling strips in the space below it.

If you want to see how it all came together, watch the process video!

Have you tried capturing a feeling by using certain embellishments on your layout like I did with this cozy page? If not, I encourage you to try it!

XO,
Jen

Week 16 Project Life spread by Jennie

Hi Everyone! This is Jennie sharing a Project Life Spread using the August Oh Deer Me Kit and some throwbacks from a few years ago.

I also used the All About Love Journal Cards by Lili Niclass.

Lately, I am obsessed with acetate pieces! This month’s kit includes gorgeous Vintage Doily Acetate Die Cuts. To glue all my acetates I use the Tombow MONO Aqua Liquid Glue.

I am crazy about these Large Acetate Numbers! I love the extra texture when you can see the pattern from the background. On top, I added the White Puffy Script Alpha Stickers. At the bottom, I used some of my favorite Emoji Wood Veneers. I’ve been neglecting my wood veneers so I put a bunch of them in a pretty bowl on my table and it really motivated me to use them!

These alphas are from the very first Oh Deer Me Kit I got! I love them and lucky me I can still form a few words with them. I’m really trying to use my stash.

I was so excited to include my Freckled Fawn Design Team announcement in my Project Life album! Next to the photo I added White Foam Words and Lovely Day Chipboard Stickers. I love how purple is sneaking into the scrapbooking world, like these Lavender Vellum Alpha Stickers.

On the photo, I layered the Label Washi a word sticker and White Puffy Hearts. I also like layering transparencies. I used an Acetate Heart with the NEW Clear Wanderlust Phrase Stickers.

I was inspired to add embellishments on this photo by Odessa! She is part of the design team and she is one of my favorite project lifers! Make sure you check her out!

I hope you enjoyed this post! Take Care!

XO,
Jennie
