Ride Together Project Life Spread by Odessa

Hi everyone! Odessa here with a pocket page layout from my weekly 2017 album. I can’t believe the year is half done already. When I first saw the July Freckled Fawn embellishment kit I knew I had the perfect pictures to go with it! Don’t you love when that happens? I had just spent a day at the fair with my family and the pictures were full of the same sort of summery primary shades and family fun which just worked perfect. So perfect that all I used other than the kit were two journal cards.

I went to town with the chipboard pieces and the washi from the kit. I just love the phrases on the washi so much and love a good pop of yellow. I used yellow throughout my layout as well in the chipboard pieces and those adorable rubber phrases. The chipboard had all my favourite elements – word strips, hearts and stars, big words like the together and hi and fun shapes like the banner. There were even little tickets which was just perfect. Can I say perfect again?

Using the washi and rubber pieces throughout the layout helps add some flow. The pictures at the bottom are visibly darker, but by repeating similar elements they get pulled together with the other photos on the page.

The alpha stickers were just perfect! I used them a couple of times on this layout to emphasize sentiments. The lettering is really fun and I like that some letters have upper and lower case as I tend to write with mixed case a lot. And there are two sheets in the kit which means more to use!

The July Embellishment Kit was perfect for documenting some summer fun in my album and I know I am going to be pulling it out a bunch. Even though I used a lot already, there is still lots left in the kit for more layouts.

Thanks for stopping by & have a lovely day!

XO,
Odessa

July Planning with Kim

Hello lovelies! Kim here with a July planner spread.

I’ve done several planner spreads with the July Embellishment kit (the Planner kit is sold out!), and I totally love the summer vibes feel associated with it!

The best part of these kits are the flexibility of them; you can be either unstructured or structured in nature depending on your style of planning!  Today I’ll show you both ways, using the same planner.

My first planner spread using this kit is totally unstructured.

The alphas in this kit mirror the washi tape so well I wanted to feature them together in this fun little corner mimicking a camp sign post.

I used the labels to write down some tasks for the day and I also included a picture of our recent vacation since I was reminiscing on how fun a time we had!

I have no problem stapling the rubber shapes onto the page! It always adds a bit of fun texture to your layouts along with the glitter icon stickers!

Now, here are the pages for the structured layout!

On the top part of the page, I used the alpha to highlight the activities we have for each day.

Then on the bottom of the page, with a background of watercolor, I added my to do lists.

The label and chipboard stickers are a great fill in for the space left over and the perfect place and some more reminders!

I love the versatility and variety in each and every kit.  Go grab yourself one too!

XO,
Kim

Awesome Ladies Mini Book by Megan

Hello, Fawn Fanatics! Megan here. Today I’m going to share the first part of a scrapbooking workshop trip album with you!

Last month I went to Michigan to attend Awesome Ladies Live, an event put on by The Awesome Ladies Project. This was such an amazing experience full of wonderful instruction and projects from fellow FF creative team member Kristin, plus quality time with old and new friends. It was so inspiring me to hear about other women’s joys and challenges of telling their stories.

Currently, I’m putting together a minibook about the event. To keep things simple for myself, I stuck with mostly patterned paper backgrounds from my stash and the July 2017 Freckled Fawn kit throughout the album, plus a few journaling cards.

This spread has a collage of photos from the second half of the workshop, with ALP letter stickers, and a page with a photo Kam took of me with a “this is my story” patterned paper I made in the workshop. I added a scrap of paper to journal on for this page, starting off my journaling with a glitter arrow sticker and adding a star chipboard sticker to the top corner of the photo.

For this album, I decided to jump around to work on pages that fit with the papers I’d pulled from my stash and ideas for pages I was getting from the July kit. Sometimes this helps me to get motivated on a bigger project–it’s easier for me to go where I’m inspired, then fill in the gaps, than it is for me to try to plan a whole album at once.

This spread has my thursday3 selfie in the spot Kristin often takes hers and my friend Amy reading in Kristin’s hammock with our foster daughter (alias Tiny).

I kept these pages very simple: label stickers to add in a bit of journaling for context, a line of glitter icons on the left page and a wood topper paper clip and doodle phrase rubber shape on the right.

The night before the event started I went to see the musical Fun Home with friends, which was fantastic. I used a yellow cardstock background so I could go busier with the embellishments–I added a line of them down the side of the page for journaling, along with a ticket chipboard sticker. I saved the bits of the label overlap that I cut off for the facing page. The bits I didn’t use went back on the sticker sheet for future use. I also added the title with letter stickers and a glitter icon sticker.

The facing page is about the rest of the night when we got back–more friends getting into town, shared dessert, and Tiny “helping” Kristin make rolls. I finished this page off with a border of washi on the top and bottom of the page (with a rubber word hidden in the washi), journaling directly on the photos, a chipboard star sticker, and leftover label bits. The embellishments really helped me to ground the photo placements.

The first part of the Awesome Ladies Live event was a barbecue at Kristin’s, and I just couldn’t wait to scrap these group photos that Jake took of us. I added watermelon flair to the right page, since I didn’t get many food photos, and the title “together” with the chipboard flair.

These pages kick off the main ALP: Live event Saturday! We had a 30 Days of Lists sponsored breakfast with a big group of ladies and then started rukristin’s day long workshop.

On the left page, I added a photo I took of my pie, coffee, and #30Lists swag! I added a Love Journal Card with a letter sticker + handwritten title and a paper scrap to add journaling. I also added a little chipboard “get together” phrase sticker at the bottom.

For the right page, I put on a big collage of photos from the first half of the workshop. The “hi” chipboard sticker ended up being super cute on top of the Awesome Lady zipper pouch photo! I added a bit of journaling to the side, which I went over multiple times so it could be read on top of the busy scissor patterned paper.

Eventually these two pages won’t go together. I have to track down the group photo outside of the restaurant and I’ll back it with the schedule for the workshops plus a little description of the event as a whole.

I made a spread covering our rest after the main event Saturday. Tiny and friends hanging out on one side, playing Rock Band on the other. I kept the left side simple with just a chipboard arrow sticker.

On the right, I added journaling on a card from the Every Moment Counts set, added a rubber phrase shape, and finished off my photo block with a bit of doodle washi (which I trimmed down to get phrases that worked on this page).

Last, I made a spread about the famous MSU Dairy Store, which was part of the East Lansing sight-seeing that the ALP: Live group did on Sunday. The ice cream was delicious (well worth staying later in the day Sunday, even though we had a 12 hour drive ahead of us) and I’m glad I was there to celebrate one of the attendees on her birthday!

On the left I included a 6×8 photo of Kristin and I with a title made from letter stickers and handwritten on a chipboard label. I also put a little glitter star in the corner of the photo.

The right page has a photo of me and my ice cream cone, Melissa as we sang happy birthday to her, and a group shot of ice cream picks. I placed these photos into a collage block and added white cardstock to the empty space so I’d have room for journaling. A label sticker gave me room for a tiny bit more journaling and I finished the page off with an ice cream chipboard sticker and a little phrase sticker!

I still have many more pages to make for this album, but I’m going to take a break for now and switch back to pocket scrapbooking! I love that laying the groundwork means that I’ll be able to finish this album quickly when I’m ready. (But first I should probably finish editing and sharing the photos from the event with the participants!)

Thanks for stopping by!

XO,
Megan

Cuteness Layout by Niki

Hi lovelies, Niki with you today sharing a layout using the July Embellishment kit.

This layout was inspired by the fantastic yellow washi tape that came in this month’s kit. It has some lovely words and phrases on it and I just loved ‘cuteness’ so have turned it into the main focus for my layout.

I created the title using my Silhouette Cameo and then backed each letter with different patterned papers. I added some ink to the white background of the layout to give it some colour and then layered my oversized title on top.

Once I had added my photos I could then add all the lovely bits & pieces that came in the July Embellishment kit. I added the ‘hi’ wooden paperclip to one of my photos, added a few chipboard stickers and some label stickers.  I also had to use some of the yellow washi tape, so chose a couple of phrases that went with my layout.

I finished off my layout with blue glittery hearts and handwrote my journaling.

I have put together a process video for you to watch on my channel.

What elements of this month’s kit inspire you?

Happy scrapping!

Niki

Birthday Fun Layout by Lisa

Hi guys, it’s Lisa here on the blog today to share this layout with you!

The July kit embellishments are just so pretty and those little two-toned acrylic hearts inspired me to create big hearts on my layout! 😉

So to start I chose 3 blue, 3 yellow an 3 pink patterned papers from different collections. I cut out a heart shape out of paper and traced nine hearts on the papers, cut them out and then cut them in half! Then I paced them together randomly. I stitched the hearts with white thread to finish the background.

I chose a picture of my friend and me at my birthday party. I think the picture goes very well with the colors on the layout! I rounded the edges because somehow the picture has a vintage vibe and I thought that round edges would match perfectly.

I then chose some of the embellishments in the kit… acrylic hearts, rubber shapes and chipboard stickers, and placed them in the center of the hearts! I also embellished a bit around the photo.

With the vellum alpha I wrote “Birthday fun” around two of the hearts.

To finish everything off, I used the chipboard banner and some chipboard word stickers. I sprinkled a bit of Heidi Swapp Color Shine and I was done! 🙂

Hope you like it! If you do, make sure to check out the process video on YouTube!

Repeat a Shape by Megan

Hi everyone! It’s Megan here with a little challenge for you!

I do a monthly challenge on my blog, called Nerd Nest Challenges, and this month the challenge is to Repeat a Shape.

Freckled Fawn kits are perfect for this challenge, because they often feature repeated icons–sometimes lots of the same embellishment, and sometimes icons across different embellishment types!

The Freckled Fawn July 2017 kit was absolutely perfect for repeating hearts.

It’s no secret that I absolutely love reading, so what shape is better for me to repeat on one of my monthly reads pages than hearts? I went through my backlog of monthly reads photos for the photos that matched the colors the best and whipped up a page.

I used just white cardstock, the kit, and a Collecting Memories journaling card (as a background for the title) on this page. That patterned paper is actually the kit pouch cut up! I trimmed off the zipper and the sides and had a nice long piece to work with.

In addition to the repeating hearts on the pouch-turned background, I added a line of resin hearts to the left side of the page, then created a visual triangle with the line of hearts, a pink chipboard sticker heart by the title, and a wood-topped paperclip on top of a photo. I rubbed some ink on the wood to get that bright yellow color!

I had a lot of fun playing around by repeating hearts, now I want to try a few other repeating shapes ideas!

I’d love to see how you repeat a shape on a project!

Have a lovely day!

XO,
Megan

Shine On Layout & Process Video by Niki

Hi there, Niki here with you today with a very summery layout using the July embellishment kit.

I was completely inspired by one of the chipboard stickers – the one with the sunshine that says ‘shine on’ in the middle. I re-created this but super-sized, using my Silhouette Cameo. I cut the sun in three different sections and layered them altogether. This formed the background for my layout and I then built the photo and embellishments up over on the right side.

I used the Shine On chipboard sticker that inspired the layout as well as the sun wooden paperclip. I also added a few more shapes from the chipboard sticker sheet and also used a few of the rubber phrases and label stickers.

I finished off by adding in that gorgeous yellow washi tape, a few flicks of water colour paint and two white glittery heart stickers. I also added in a sub title using the vellum alphabet stickers and handwrote in my journaling on the left side of the sun.

I put together a process video for you:

Have a wonderful sunshine-filled day.

Happy scrapping!

Niki
