August Scrapbook Process with Jen

Hello friends! Jen here!

I’m excited to share a scrapbook layout using the glorious August kit. This one was definitely inspired by the pretty floral and woodgrain elements in the kit.

I wanted to tell a story about a few of the cozy shops my bestie and I visited on a weekend vacation and talk about the comfort of that activity, so I really tried to create a really warm and inviting page. I picked out the woodgrain washi and wood veneer pieces and decided to fussy cut a floral patterned paper to accent them.

The acetate doilies were another great way to bring in the feel of a thrift shop or used book store and I liked the circular element they added. I decided to add in some more circular elements by putting some of the clear stickers on white cardstock and punching them out.

The adventure phrases worked perfectly with my story and that made me super happy. 🙂 I combined some chipboard letters with my favorite Freckled Fawn puffy alphabet stickers for my title and added journaling strips in the space below it.

If you want to see how it all came together, watch the process video!

Have you tried capturing a feeling by using certain embellishments on your layout like I did with this cozy page? If not, I encourage you to try it!

XO,
Jen

Miss You Already Process Video by Jen

Hey there! Jen Schow here to share with you a layout I created inspired by the Washi Tape sketch challenge.

Some of the other designers have created some sketch inspiration for you  so I’ll tack their lovely projects onto the end of my post.

The sketch shows a large heart covered in washi and I decided to take that idea and apply it to my title.

I cut out my letters on my Silhouette and then used the washi strips included in the February kit to cover them. It’s a super fun way to get an interesting look and use up some of the washi in your stash. 🙂

I also used some of the Love Journal cards and cut the orange florals from them. LOVE that floral motif. So pretty!

The little button stickers were the perfect finishing touch. I ended up threading them with a bit of crochet twine and popped them up. So cute!

You can see how it all came together in the video below.

Full disclosure, I thought I was doing the Washi Tape challenge, but I didn’t realize it had a sketch (hanging my head in shame), so I mention it in the video. Either way, I hope you’ll try something fun using your washi!

And now for some more sketch inspiration:

Kristina created washi triangles.

Kim added washi to her heart background on this bible journaling page:

Megan created a washi heart for her layout:

Sami created a heart with a diagonal stripe on her layout:

Malia Style Layout by Jen

Hi all! Jen here!

When I saw the colors in this month’s kit, I knew just the photo to use. My daughter has been sporting this colorful Guatemalan hat for weeks and I wanted to do a layout about her funky style.

I pulled out the different heart shapes – wood veneer, epoxy, and enamel and scattered them across my page.

I used the white puffy border strips as a base for my journaling.

I added in some vellum word strips for a pop of aqua. And just because I had to. They are my favorite thing in the kit!!

Lastly, I used one of the “Love” journal cards and added a little bit of watercolor to it so it would match my other embellishments.

This was a super fun layout to create and you can watch the entire process in the video below!
