Hi Fanatics! Niki back again today with something a little different and a bit out of my comfort zone.
I’ve always been intrigued by the Week in the Life project by Ali Edwards, but somehow I always end up failing this project and to date have never once completed it despite starting it several times. As soon as I saw the Days of the Week Wood Chips in the September Embellishment kit I was immediately inspired to attempt a Week in the Life layout…it proved quite challenging getting a whole week onto one 12×12 layout but I absolutely managed it and am in love with the result!
I have put together a process video for you to view below if you would like to see how it came together.
I was also inspired by one of the vellum sticker strips which was a black scalloped line with hearts in each of the scallops. I re-created this as a cut file (my hearts are a little on the large size but I’m ok with that) and cut it three times using my cutting machine. I positioned these onto the layout and then needed four more lines which I added with my sewing machine. At this point I had seven lines, each representing a day of the week.
I embellished the stitched lines with the vellum sticker strips.
I added the wood chip weekday words on each of the lines and then printed some small square photos. I aimed for one photo for each day but ended up with a few extras – this is a lot to squeeze onto one layout! I arranged them in the right places and stuck them in place and then wrote in my journaling. I actually ended up with ten photos on this layout!
I added a title using the black puffy alpha stickers and then added embellishments to any gaps. I added in vellum stickers, enamel triangles, the large enamel camera, cloud and star stickers, puffy stickers and some clear arrow stickers.
I absolutely love the result and even though this layout was well out of my comfort zone with so many photos and all that journaling, I thoroughly enjoyed making it and am thrilled that I have finally completed a Week in the Life project – albeit a very scaled down version, but it works for me and that’s what matters.
Thank you so much for joining me today – how will you use your Days of the Week Wood Chips?
